Locating SA Chapters

June - 04
Q:
Do you know where I can find any Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) meetings in my area?  I looked on the www.sa.org site and I could not find anything.  Also would you know of any other Catholic/ Christian/ or Secular Agency that I could approach for direct personal or group (12 step) counseling in addition to the spiritual counseling that I am receiving from my Spiritual Director/Parish Priest?

A:  Dear Colin,

SA typically lists local group contact information in both the phone directory and the newspaper.

Your parish priest or pastor often knows whom to contact as well.  Law enforcement officials (especially judges) keep up with SA since they will refer people with criminal records of a sexual nature to SA meetings as part of their mandatory probationary activity.

Lastly, even though SA.org didn't list local contact information on their web site, a telephone call to their central office will lead to the information you seek.

My only concern with participating in non-Catholic Christian groups of any kind is the exposure to theological errors and misconceptions common among our separated brethren which can, and often does, lead the poorly catechised Catholic astray.

This is why I personally endorse SA - though they focus on God in His primacy, they work hard to avoid specifics of any one faith so as to not make anyone feel excluded.

I pray this helps!

God Bless!
