Dear Milton,
I can’t answer for how women who work in so called “gentlemen’s clubs”
rationalize their sinful and immoral behavior. To do this kind of
work requires a person to completely detach themselves from any sense
of true love, affection and intimacy as God intended. No doubt
many of them probably do take drugs.
I do know that some of these women can
earn upwards of $2500 - $3000/night.
Assuming such a girl works 20 days out
of a month, that works out to $50K – 60K/month in tax free
non-traceable income. So, in less than a year, she will have banked
over half a million dollars.
I know very few people who would not be
tempted by such a large sum of easy money, and this would include
being willing to compromise their personal moral and spiritual values.
These women feed on the money, the power
and control they hold over men, as well as the attention men give
them, which brings me to my point.
Our apostolate does not fight
pornography per se.
We exist to minister to people who admit
they have an addiction to it and desire to break that addiction.
Fighting porn head-on would be every bit
as unsuccessful as prohibition was in fighting alcohol and the war on
drugs has been in eliminating narcotics. Both of these federal
programs have been unmitigated disasters. Why?
These efforts target the elimination of
the substance (booze, drugs, porn, fast food, gambling, whatever) but
they don’t address the desire.
As long as a person has a disordered
desire for something, he or she will go to great lengths to fulfill
that desire, including pay a lot of money.
So, because there is tremendous
financial opportunity to be had in supplying the things that satisfy
people’s disordered desires – drugs, sex, booze, there will be people
who are ready, willing and able to furnish those illicit materials.
What is needed then is to work toward
eliminating the disordered desire.
If, for a moment, no one desired illicit
drugs, that same group of people would no longer be willing to pay for
drugs. If that went on for an extended period of time, all of the
drug dealers would quickly start looking for alternate employment, all
because the market demand for their illicit goods ceased to exist.
So it is with porn.
We strive to make men and women aware of
the harm that porn has on the individual and of the destructive ripple
effects that porn has in impacting the lives of those near and dear to
an addict.
In other words, we strive to
rehabilitate one addict at a time, one family at a time.
Yes, the women who tempt men by these
means are sinning and are leading others into sin.
But, it is incumbent upon men to avoid
the near occasion of sin. That is, we must always avoid feeding the
addiction. No matter how much the most beautiful women in the world
enticingly shake their tails at us, it is incumbent upon us as men to
turn and walk away. Period.
There is no excuse on our part for
participating in this sin.
The blame for social failures and the
moral downfall of our society I place squarely at the feet of men for
the very reason that we have failed to be good and faithful husbands,
good and faithful fathers and good and faithful workers.
Only when we begin to be responsible and
accountable for our actions and their consequences, and we start to
live and act like the good husbands, fathers and workers that God
calls us to be, will society start to turn around for the better.
God Bless!
